Become a Volunteer

Girlguiding is the largest volunteering organisation for girls and young women in the UK.  Volunteers are aged 18 years and upwards and do not need to have been involved in Girl guiding before.

Volunteers can take on any number of roles, such as, Adult Leaders, unit helper, event co-ordinator, administrator/secretary, and fundraiser.  Girlguiding offer a range of opportunities to develop new skills, gain qualifications, travel abroad, make new friends and have lots of fun along the way.

Becoming a volunteer is as easy as ABC:

a) Register your interest – complete the online form on our Join Us site.

b) Someone from the Girlguiding team in your area will contact you for a chat, usually within three weeks.

c) Tell us what you want to do - during this chat let us know about your skills and how much time you have to spare. This will help us to find the right volunteer role for you and start our recruitment check process, including disclosure and reference checks.

Members with Additional Needs

Girlguiding is an inclusive organisation which values and celebrates each other’s differences.

Some of our members have additional needs and we adapt our activities so that they can participate and enjoy the activities we offer.

Girlguiding South Yorkshire has a Special Needs Team who support leaders; suggesting ways to assess and adapt activities to reduce the barriers to their involvement.  Leaders work closely with parents to ensure the child’s needs are met, where possible.
